The Russian musical Anna Karenina became a huge success among the public in Shanghai, Xinhua reports. It is based on the novel of the same name by Leo Tolstoy. The musical has been adapted for Chinese viewers. The Russian team performed in Shanghai for three days. The production has previously been seen in Jinan, Guangzhou and Xiamen.

The creators of the performance used modern technologies, which allowed everyone present in the room to be completely immersed in what was happening on stage, where the opera hall was replaced by a skating rink, and the palace - by a village.

The production used not only classical ballet, but also folk dances, rock and roll, and even figure skating.

The tours of Russian dancers in China will continue, from Shanghai they will set off to Beijing.

The Anna Karenina musical was shown dozens of times and was seen by over 40,000 people. The tickets in different Chinese cities are selling out at high speed. The musical was staged in Russia in 2016; leading Chinese translators and singers worked on the Chinese version.
