Russian folk songs were performed the day before, on December, 21, in the capital of Venezuela, TASS reports. A quintet of soloists from the Zykina ensemble and Honored Artist of Russia Olesya Evstigneeva appeared on the stage of the country’s National Theater. The concert was included in a project implemented by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and Rosconcert. Its main task is to popularize the Russian language abroad. The events are supported by the Russian Embassy and the Caracas City Hall.

According to Russian Ambassador Sergei Melik-Bagdasarov, among the spectators were residents of Caracas, Russian compatriots living in Venezuela, diplomats and many other admirers of Russian culture.

The head of the diplomatic mission is sure that the concert is perfectly suited for the festive pre-Christmas time.

One of the deputies of the Venezuelan parliament, Jesus Faria, called cultural ties a bridge uniting the peoples of the two countries. They are important for the relations between Russia and Venezuela to become stronger.
