RT Documentary premiered at the Russian House in New Delhi

15.12.2023

"The British built railroads not to make Indians comfortable, but to export our wealth." More than 130 Indians saw the RT documentary Looted India: Cost of an Empire in Hindi with English subtitles. The premiere took place at the Russian House in New Delhi on December, 14, Russkiy Dom telegram channel reports.

The film raises important questions regarding the British colonial policy and its impact on modern India. It sheds light on how the Britain enslaved India and plundered it, as well as how the population was imposed with ideas of an alien nation. At the same time, the cultural treasures of Indian civilization were exported abroad, and many of them are still on display in the British Museum. Descendants of those who fought for their land and independence have been trying, though unsuccessfully, to return family heirlooms to their homeland.

The panel discussion after the screening was attended by author Artem Vorobei, head of RT Documentary Ekaterina Yakovleva, Senior Counselor of the Russian Embassy Valery Khodjaev, Indian political scientists Suvrokamal Dutta, Shashank Shekhar Sinha, Vinayak Kalletla, President of the BRICS International Forum Purnima Anand, military historian Colonel Shailendra Singh. Indian-origin international law expert Jarat Chopra joined the discussion via video link from Canada.
