The work of the 25th World Russian People's Council started on Monday, November, 27, TASS reports. Government officials, clergy, scientists, cultural and educational figures are invited to participate in the forum.
The World Russian People's Council was created in 1993, and since 2009 it has been headed by Patriarch Kirill. This year it turns 30 years old.
The plenary meeting, which is scheduled for tomorrow, November, 28, will be attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Konstantin Malofeev, who holds the post of deputy head of the Council, clarified that when the organization was created, the main goal of its activities was to overcome the division of society that began in Russia in the 90s, and to prevent the civil war. Now the tasks have changed, Konstantin Malofeev stressed. It is important to discuss the outlines of the future that will come after the victory.
According to him, today the Council's branches operate in most Russian regions. Soon they will appear in the remaining ones.
During plenary sessions, participants will discuss work in economic, demographic, educational, youth and many other areas.
