International educational campaign Geographical Dictation was launched on November 19. The action is organized by the Russian Geographical Society (RGS) on the initiative of the Chairman of the Society's Board of Trustees, Russian President Vladimir Putin. The action is held for the ninth time. The dictation sites are opened in 96 countries of all continents, including Antarctica, as well as on the International Space Station, RIA Novosti reports.

Since 2015 hundreds of thousands of people from Russia and beyond engage in a project that aims to promote geographical knowledge and spark interest in Russian geography among residents. A special feature of last year's Geographical Dictant was the introduction of special tasks for participants from abroad, as well as questions from RGO's foreign partners. Tasks were also available in all UN languages and Hindi.

This year, as in the past, participants will tackle 40 questions in the 45 minutes time frame. Thanks to the tiered options, even those who don't consider their knowledge of Russian geography to be extensive can find the campaign engaging. Questions maintain their traditional educational focus.
