The Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra is on tour in Turkey, TASS reports. The creative team, together with artistic director Valery Gergiev, set off on tour on October, 7. Russian musicians gave their first concert the day before, on October, 8. They took to the stage, which was set up on the site of an ancient amphitheater in the ancient city of Aspendos.

The audience that gathered in the historical place listened to works by Russian composers. The musicians performed excerpts from Prokofiev's ballet Romeo and Juliet and Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade.

Tomorrow, October, 10, the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra is scheduled to perform jointly with the Ankara Symphony Orchestra. They will perform Shostakovich's 7th Symphony. Maestro Gergiev will take the place at the conductor's stand.

The final concert will take place in Istanbul. Its program includes works by Tchaikovsky.
