Major ethnographic dictation kicks off worldwide

The Large ethnographic dictation started on Friday, November, 3, TASS reports. As part of the international educational campaign, everyone will have the opportunity to find out what level their ethnocultural literacy is at.

The dictation is annually carried out by the Federal Agency for National Affairs (FADN) of the Russian Federation. The dictation is timed to coincide with National Unity Day; questions about the culture and traditions of the peoples of Russia can be answered both online and offline. The campaign will last until November, 8.

The tests are written in three languages: Russian, English or Spanish. The dictation consists of 30 tasks. 20 of them are general, and ten are related to the participant’s region of residence. Participants from abroad answer questions about places in other countires that have connections with Russia. The work lasts 45 minutes.

The project is supported in many countries. The campaign is aimed at popularizing the culture and traditions of the peoples living in Russia. The first time it took place in 2016, it was invented in Udmurtia.

Participants will receive certificates indicating their score in the dictation.
