The Russian Team Spirit became the winner of the grand final of The International 12, the main competition of Dota 2. In the decisive matches, Russian e-sportsmen turned out to be stronger than the Western European team Gaimin Gladiators, R-Sport agency reports.

Team Spirit defeated their opponents with a score of 3:0 and won gold in the main tournament for the 2nd time. Previously, only one of the Western European teams managed to do this. The Russians first won the top prize two years ago, beating the Chinese team in the grand final and winning a record amount of more than 18 million dollars.

Team Spirit includes three representatives of Russia and two Ukrainians. The opposing team included a Russian and players from a number of European countries and the USA. The games took place in Seattle, the victory brought the Russian team over $1.4 million.

In August, it was reported that Ukraine had prepared punishment for citizens of the country who compete in the Russian Team Spirit. The Ukrainian Esports Federation announced that participants would be blacklisted and deprived of the right to compete as part of the national team.
