Russian cosmonauts Sergei Prokopyev and Dmitry Petelin, as well as US astronaut Francisco Rubio, who accompanied them on the flight, became part of a new record for the duration of stay on the International Space Station (ISS), where they worked for a year, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.

The crew returned to the planet last Wednesday, September, 27. The Russians and the American set foot on Earth after 371 days in outer space, which became a record for the duration of expeditions to the ISS.

The trio arrived on the ISS in September 2022, and, according to plans, the expedition was supposed to last six months. The flight was forced to be extended due to a meteoroid that damaged the skin of the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft. Over the course of a year, Russian cosmonauts conducted dozens of scientific experiments and went into outer space six times.

Broadcasts from the ISS showed what kind of friendly relations developed between the Russians and the American. Despite political differences, the countries continue to effectively cooperate in the field of space exploration, and the whole world is watching their joint work. It is noted that joint flights have a positive impact on the safety of the space station.
