The anniversary of the end of the Russian-Turkish War was celebrated in Russia. This year marks 145 years since the end of the war, which brought independence to the people of Bulgaria,  the website of the Russophiles National Movement (RNM) reports.

The celebrations took place in the Tver region, in the village of Sakharovo, where the family estate of Field Marshal Joseph Gurko was located. This year marks the 195th anniversary of the military leader’s birth.

The head of the RNM Nikolai Malinov greeted the participants and organizers of the holiday.

A conference and a festive concert also took place in Sakharov.

The organization of these events is the work of Father Gennady (Ulyanich), who is the head of the Church of St. Reverend Joseph of Volotsk. It was he who founded the museum on the field marshal’s estate and restored his memory.
