Orthodox community in Morocco raises funds for earthquake victims

The Orthodox community of Morocco has announced a fundraiser for victims of the recent earthquake, the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa reports. The magnitude of the earthquake was 6.8. Almost 3,000 people died, more than 5,000 were injured.

Money can be brought to churches in Rabat and Casablanca or transferred to a bank account. The funds raised will be used to purchase medicines, food and basic necessities.

The Moroccan Council of Churches expressed its condolences to the Moroccan people in connection with the tragic events. They were signed by the cleric of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, rector of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Rabat, Archpriest Maxim Massalitin.
