Russian art festival takes place in Italy

The ''Russia - Naples. Volcano of Arts" Festival is taking place in Italy. It is included in the framework of the ''Cultural Mission in Italy” project, which covers a number of large-scale events with the participation of Russian performers and creative groups, TASS reports.

The festival, held by the Center for Film Festivals and International Programs, opened for the 2nd time, the first time it was held two years ago. The ''Cultural Mission in Italy'' project has been implemented for almost 20 years.

This year, the project was launched in September in Milan, the events are timed to coincide with composer Sergei Rachmaninoff's and opera singer Fyodor Chaliapin's 150th anniversaries.

As part of the ''Russian Autumn in Italy'' Festival, concerts took place in the northern regions of the country. The project is being implemented with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture and the Russian-Italian Dialogue Forum through civil societies.

In October, the Lighthouse of Arts festival will take place in San Remo and Genoa, performers from leading Russian theaters and Russian musicians are going to take part in it. An exhibition of avant-garde art is also planned.

In December, the ''Winter Garden of Arts'' will be held in Bari, the program of which will include performances by the Orthodox choir from Dmitrov and the ''Returned Shrines'' exhibition, which presents the collection of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.

The day before, Russian director Dmitry Bertman, who heads the Moscow Helikon Opera theater, was awarded the ''Sun of Naples'' sign in Italy, which is a special award of the ''Russia - Naples. Volcano of Arts" Festival. Russian Ambassador to Italy Alexey Paramonov noted the long-standing historical and cultural ties between Russia and Naples.
