Vladivostok hosts the 8th Eastern Economic Forum

The Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) is being held in Vladivostok from September, 10 to September, 13. About 20,000 businessmen and experts from Russia and other countries are attending. Russian President Vladimir Putin, who founded the EEF, highlighted in his welcoming speech the country's openness to broad international dialogue, the website of the head of state reports.

The EEF is held for the 8th time; it is traditionally aimed at developing the economy of the Far East and cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region (APR). On the eve of the forum, Vladimir Putin stated the importance of identifying ways to form new ''production and logistics chains, modernize transport and energy systems, as well as ensure food and environmental security in the region.''

Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova noted that over the years of its existence, the EEF has gained international authority as a platform where issues of social and economic development of the Asia-Pacific region are discussed.

At the opening forum, which brought together tens of thousands of participants from Russia and abroad, the topic of international cooperation in new conditions, issues related to the global economy and the development of the Russian Far East will be discussed. Participants will also touch upon topics related to technological and climate changes.

The EEF cultural program launched the day before. It opened with the Vladivostok Seasons festival, the program included concerts, exhibitions, performances and excursions.
