The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) wants to deprive the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) of membership in the organization, the Izvestia newspaper reports. According to Pavel Rozhkov, who heads the RPC, the general assembly of the IPC is scheduled for September, 27. It will take place in Bahrain. The IPC said it plans to make preparations to permanently suspend the membership of the RPC.

In May, the IPC Appeals Tribunal upheld the RPC's complaint and overturned the decision to suspend its membership in the organization.

The Russian committee's membership in the IPC was suspended in the fall of 2022, depriving Russian athletes of the opportunity to participate in all international competitions. The RPC's complaint was considered in Dubai, and the tribunal made a decision to restore the Russian committee's membership in the international organization.

In making its decision, the court noted that the IPC was unable to prove the facts of violations by the RPC of the rules of membership in the organization. The arbitration also ruled the reference to the fact that Russian athletes could conduct political propaganda at competitions as untenable.

The tribunal stressed that they do not have the legal right to cancel the suspension of Russian Paralympians from competitions, which came into force last spring by decision of the IPC executive committee.
