Russian Ambassador to US congratulated WWII veteran on 100th anniversary

Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov sent congratulations to the veteran of the labor front of the Great Patriotic War Genokh Leizerovich Smelyansky. For most of his life, the veteran lived in the USSR, after the collapse of the Union he moved with his relatives to the United States, TASS reports.

On his centenary, Genokh Smelyansky received congratulations and a memorable gift from the Russian diplomatic mission. According to the diplomatic mission, Nadezhda Shumova, head of the embassy's consular department, visited the veteran in Florida.

The text of congratulations from Anatoly Antonov says that Henokh Smelyansky has worked for the good of his homeland for many years. During the war years, he worked at the Kazan Aviation Plant, helping the Soviet army to defeat the enemy.

The Ambassador stressed that the veteran's life achievements, marked with awards, are an example for the youth to follow. The head of the diplomatic mission thanked the hero of the day for the fact that Henokh Smelyansky is still participating in the work to preserve historical memory, cooperating with other veterans and participating in the celebration of Victory Day.
