Rossotrudnichestvo will provide assistance to a Russian citizen, who failed to withdraw money from her account due to the refusal of her German bank, RIA Novosti reports. The Russian woman has been living in Germany for more than 20 years, she has a residence permit. After selling the apartment in Germany, she transferred the money to a bank account. But the bank does not want to return the funds to her, explaining its decision by the fact that the woman has Russian citizenship.

The head of the department, Yevgeny Primakov, promised that Rossotrudnichestvo would certainly study this fact, as well as all similar cases. According to him, they will be worked out with the involvement of human rights structures and friendly lawyers.

Earlier, the Human Rights Association for the Prevention of Discrimination against Russian Germans in Germany (VADAR) spoke about numerous complaints against Commerzbank from German residents with Russian citizenship and citizens of other countries with Russian surnames. Compatriots inform that one of the largest banks in the country resorts to closing the accounts of Russians, not allowing them to withdraw funds from ATMs.

Russians and mixed families, in which one of the members has a Russian passport, suffer from the discriminatory actions of the financial organization. Difficulties also affected employees of companies run by Russian citizens, and even German citizens with Russian surnames.

According to the association, unfriendly actions by the German bank affected the citizens of Ukraine, a number of CIS countries and Israel, united by the Russian language. VADAR called such selective sanctions discrimination.

The association is waiting for an explanation from representatives of the bank, which is one of the three largest financial institutions in Germany in terms of assets. In the meantime, they urged fellow citizens not to resort to the services of the bank until it returns to non-discriminatory customer service.
