Russia took part in 1st Library Festival in India

The Russian delegation became a participant in the International Festival of Libraries, the website of the Year of Literature reports. The forum was held for the first time in Mumbai. Its motto was ''Read. Study. Meditate.'' Russia was represented by Vice-President of the Russian Library Association, head of the Russian State Library Vadim Duda and head of the Russian National Library Vladimir Gronsky.

The number of participants exceeded 1,000 people. The program included thematic sections, master classes, round table duscussions, meetings with Indian writers and exhibitions.

President of India Draupadi Murmu is sure that the importance of libraries for the development of society and culture cannot be overestimated. In her opinion, in order to provide access to knowledge, libraries need modernization and digital transformation.

At the festival venues, the Russian delegation held a number of working meetings with Indian colleagues and invited them to the All-Russian Library Congress, which will be held in Kazan in 2024.
