Russian educational centers to open in Nigeria and Benin

Centers for Open Education in Russian and Russian Language Teaching in Nigeria and Benin are expecting their first students this fall. The institutions were created under the auspices of the State University of Education (Prosvet), Interfax reports.

The Russian institution noted that these centers were opened at the main university of Benin, Abome-Calavi, and leading universities in Nigeria. The Rector of the Russian University Irina Kokoeva is sure that in the future the centers will help young people from African countries receive Russian education.

Irina Kokoeva spoke about the popularity of Russian diplomas in Africa, which make it possible to find a decent job and achieve great things. She noted that Nigeria and Benin are interested in cooperation with Russia.

Cooperation is planned in organizing scientific, cultural and other events, as well as internships for students and teachers. The university thanked the representatives of Russian diplomatic missions for their help in holding the meetings.

Centers for open education in Russian and teaching the Russian language will be created in more than 50 countries, this goal is set out in the federal program of the Ministry of Education of Russia.
