Russian doctors and scientists are helping African countries fight epidemics. Moscow is regularly developing vaccines, opening epidemiological centers in Africa, sending specialists and donating medical equipment, helping to train local personnel to counter infectious diseases, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.

The head of the Russian Microbe Research Anti-Plague Institute of Rospotrebnadzor, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Kutyrev spoke about the interaction of Russian scientists and doctors with African colleagues in this area.

He said that as part of this activity, Russia is sending mobile anti-epidemic laboratories to African countries for research on infections. The study is also being conducted at the Russian-Guinean Center for the Epidemiology and Prevention of Infectious Diseases, established about six years ago.
