Russian mathematician Yaroslav Sergeev awarded international prize at congress in Athens

Russian scientist Yaroslav Sergeev received the Konstantin Carathéodory International Prize for achievements in the field of global optimization, TASS reports. The solemn award ceremony took place the day before, on July, 13, in Athens. it became part of the program of the World Congress of Global Optimization. The professor at the Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod made a plenary report online at the forum.

The award is presented every two years and recognizes outstanding scientific results that have stood the test of time and have made notable contributions to the theory, algorithms and applications of global optimization. This year the prize is of particular importance, as it is awarded in the year of the Carathéodory's 150th anniversary.

Every two years, scientists from all over the world gather at the congress and discuss relevant issues. Yaroslav Sergeev headed the international society until 2021. He has been studying these issues for 40 years and has published several books in Russian and English. Sergeev is the author of the ''infinity computer'', patented in 2010, which is already actively used in different countries.

Earlier, Yaroslav Sergeev was awarded the Italian Pythagoras Prize, the Khorezmi Prize of the Iranian government and other awards.
