Moscow is closing the Consulate General of Finland in St. Petersburg, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports. In addition, nine Finnish diplomats will have to leave Russia. These steps were a response to the actions of Helsinki, which the department called confrontational. This was stated by the Ambassador of Finland Antti Helanterya, who on Thursday, July, 6, was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The ambassador was reminded that last month nine Russian diplomats were declared persona non grata and expelled from Finland.

The MFA stated that the Finnish authorities are pursuing an anti-Russian policy aimed at the collapse of relations between the two countries, which have been formed over decades. The  mutually beneficial cooperation, trade, economic and interregional ties were suddenly broken because of Finland's actions.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also stated that Finland's entry into NATO is a threat to Russia's security. Hostile actions towards Russia are the encouragement of the Kyiv regime and pumping it with weapons.
