The UN pointed to the violation of human rights by Kiev, RIA Novosti reports. The actions of the Ukrainian military contradict the human rights to freedom and personal integrity, the authors of the report prepared by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) note. In their opinion, the number of such facts increased after February 24, 2022. Among them are arbitrary detentions and enforced disappearances.

OHCHR documented 75 cases in which Ukrainian security forces detained civilians. There are 17 women, 57 men and one boy on this list. Some of the cases of arbitrary detention were cases of enforced disappearance. The UN believes that for the most part law enforcement officers or military personnel are responsible for them.

43 inmates said they were subjected to torture and ill-treatment. Most often this took place in unofficial places of detention. OHCHR called their stories credible.

In addition, several civilians were arrested for helping to distribute and deliver humanitarian aid in regions under Russian control. They were sent to prison on charges of "collaborating with the enemy." In particular, a resident of the Kharkiv region was accused of participating in illegal organizations. Earlier, the villagers chose him to distribute humanitarian aid.
