The festival of Russian military cinema started the day before, on June 22, in the capital of Venezuela, TASS reports.

The opening film was Nikolai Lebedev's drama Nuremberg. It was preceded by the Memory Candle campaign timed to coincide with the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow. Candles in one of the central squares of Caracas were lit by Russian compatriots living in the South American country, members of the Victory Volunteers movement. They were joined by diplomats from Russia, Belarus and Abkhazia, employees of the embassies of friendly countries, as well as graduates of Russian universities, employees of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry, public figures and others.

According to Russian Ambassador Sergei Melik-Bagdasarov, the film was not chosen by chance to open the festival. It shows the triumph of truth. The head of the network of state cinemas, Vladimir Sosa, added that residents of many cities will be able to watch films about the heroes of the struggle against Nazism.
