The State Historical Museum is going to cooperate with its counterpart in Shanghai, RIA Novosti reports. The memorandum was signed by the heads of the Russian and Chinese museums Alexei Levykin and Qunhua Zhou.
The agreement will allow the development of complex inter-museum cooperation, work on the creation of joint exhibition projects and scientific programs.
A week ago, the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra performed works by Russian composers in the open air in China. The place at the conductor's stand was taken by maestro Valery Gergiev.
The concert venue was equipped near one of the most famous sights - the Great Wall of China. The stage was set against the backdrop of Badaling, a mountain range on which its section closest to Beijing is built. The audience could watch the work of the orchestra and the conductor close up on three large screens. The musicians performed works by Glinka, Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev and Stravinsky. The program was complemented by the music of Johann Strauss and Lu Qiming.
