Russian Language Day celebrated in Russia and abroad on Pushkin's birthday

Russian Language Day is celebrated on Tuesday, June, 6, TASS reports. The holiday is dedicated to the birthday of Alexander Pushkin. This year marks 224 years since the birth of the great poet.

Director of the Pushkin All-Russian Museum Sergei Nekrasov recalled that the great poet remains a key figure in the entire national culture. He assured that events in many museums are timed to this date.

The program at Moika 12 will begin after the noon shot of the cannon in the Peter and Paul Fortress. Everyone will be able to lay flowers at the monument installed in the courtyard of the museum. Traditionally, excursions on this day in the museum are free.

The service will take place at the grave of the poet in the Svyatogorsk Holy Assumption Monastery in the village of Pushkinskiye Gory, Pskov Region. 

In Yakutsk, the premiere of the Ruslan and Lyudmila performance is scheduled to take place. Flowers will be laid to Pushkin's monument. In the Amur region, Pushkin's poems will be read in different languages. In Ulan-Ude, one of the tram routes will become a literary one, its passengers will hear the poet's poems. 

In Vladivostok, each guest of the Primorsky Art Gallery can record a video with poetry reading, take a photo with Yevgeny Gavrilkevich's painting Pushkin and post it on the Internet.

On Tuesday, June, 6, The Great Russian Word international festival opens in Crimea. The Pushkin relay was launched in Kyrgyzstan, and an educational campaign was held in Berlin. Last weekend, the Russian Language Day was celebrated on a large scale in Ashgabat. Compatriots in Argentina launched an online project with recitals of the Eugene Onegin novel.
