Scientists from Russia and Mexico have reached an agreement to conduct joint research in a number of scientific areas. This happened at the first meeting of the joint committee of the National Council for Science and Technology Conacyt and the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Dubna, RIA Novosti reports.

Director of the Russian Institute, Grigory Trubnikov, said that the parties had identified a number of relevant areas for expanding cooperation. These includes nuclear methods in medicine, ecology and materials science, as well as IT and quantum technology.

In addition, Mexico is ready to expand its participation in such a direction as NICA (Nuclotron-based Ion Collider fAcility in Dubna). The scientific institution noted that large-scale plans for joint scientific research will be accompanied by academic exchanges involving young scientists and students.

Trubnikov noted that Mexican scientists joined the project to create the NICA complex five years ago. Since then, the parties have published dozens of joint articles in scientific journals and opened cooperation in other areas.

Last spring, a declaration on cooperation was signed, within the framework of which a joint JINR-Mexico coordinating committee was established, whose activities are aimed at developing new projects between scientists of the two countries.
