Chess schools of India and St. Petersburg to hold joint tournaments

The St. Petersburg Chess Sports Federation and the Indian School of Chess, which is located in Mumbai, are planning to develop cooperation. On Wednesday, May 31, they signed a memorandum of understanding online, TASS reports. It is planned that the parties will hold competitions, joint training camps and exchange experience.

According to Elena Remizova, who heads the Russian House in Mumbai, the document was signed by the head of the federation, Vladimir Bykov, and the director of the school, Praful Zaveri. The signing ceremony was timed to the youth chess tournament, which was dedicated to St. Petersburg"s 320 anniversary. Six players from Russia and India, aged 11 to 15, fought for the victory.

The director of the Indian School of Chess, Praful Zaveri, hopes that now such tournaments will become a tradition. He also added that in the future the countries could exchange delegations and hold competitions in person.
