Italian singer Enzo Ginazzi, known as Pupo, admitted that he was forced to refuse to participate in the Road to Yalta festival after receiving threats, TASS reports. According to him, the trip to Moscow did not take place because he wanted to protect his loved ones and colleagues. The singer added that he was threatened by people who violated his right to privacy.

The singer consulted with the organizers of the festival, and they offered him not to take risks. He called the current period "crazy". Now any step can become a weapon against you, Pupo clarified. The singer was supposed to be one of the jury members.

The Road to Yalta festival began in 2019, when it took place in the Crimean city. The project is aimed at preserving historical memory and glorifying the Soviet warrior-liberator. 46 foreign performers have taken part in the festival over the years of its existence. Over four years, the organizers have accepted over 900 applications from singers from 60 countries.

The idea of the festival and the level of performers were highly appreciated by viewers from different countries, tens of millions of people around the world watched the festival events on TV and on the Internet.

As part of the 2023 festival, 15 singers who passed the qualifying stage performed songs about the Great Patriotic War in their native languages. At the gala concert, the participants sang them together with the stars of Russian music and cinema.
