Events dedicated to the centenary of the famous academician, specialist in Slavic studies Nikita Ilyich Tolstoy are opening in Belgrade, which will be held in his hometown of Vrsac in Serbia, the Russian House in Belgrade reports.

The main events of the program were discussed at a press conference held at the Russian House in the Serbian capital. Members of the Tolstoy family, as well as colleagues, students and associates of the outstanding scientist took part in the meeting with journalists.

The cycle of events in honor of the anniversary will be launched by an international round table discussion dedicated to the Tolstoy's scientific legacy. The participants of the meeting will be researchers and teachers from Russia and Serbia.

On Saturday, April 15, a bust monument of the academician will be opened. The opening ceremony will be followed by an exposition with archival documents, photographs and personal belongings of the Slavist.

Celebrations in memory of the outstanding scientist will be held with the support of the Russian Embassy in Serbia and the Russian House in Belgrade.
