About 60 Russians remain in American prisons today, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said. He noted that in most cases accusations agaisnt them look dubious, TASS reports.

The minister explained that Washington, while organizing the abductions of Russian citizens from third countries, has never complied with the requirements of the bilateral consular convention.

Since 2008, the number of cases when Russians where detained in third countries on the US request has approached 60. Moscow has repeatedly demanded to stop such steps. Earlier, Moscow and Washington signed an agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, but the United States does not want to implement this agreement.

According to Nadezhda Shumova, who heads the consular department of the Russian Embassy in the United States, almost every prisoner is dissatisfied with the conditions of detention.
