An event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet army in the Battle of Stalingrad was held at the Russian House in Belgrade. The guests of the evening listened to a lecture by Belgrade University professors Časlav Koprivica and Milos Kovich about the battle and the significance of the Battle of Stalingrad, which is considered one of the key events of World War II, TASS reports.

Scientists have included the legendary battle in a series of "long historical processes" in which the West put pressure on the East. Kovich noted that now, as in 1943, Russia is fighting for the right to exist, and "this struggle also has historical significance."

Koprivitsa noted that the Battle of Stalingrad was a battle of good and evil. He raised the question of "the reasons for the rootedness of evil in European culture", which gives rise to new tragedies.
