The memory of the Soviet military will be immortalized in Mozambique, RIA Novosti reports. The monument is planned to be erected near Beira. The monument will become a tribute to the memory of the soldiers who died on July 26, 1979 from shelling by militants. Soviet military specialists assisted the people of Mozambique in the war for independence from Portugal.

According to Daria Da-Conceicao, who previously filmed the Black to USSR documentary, the importance of the role of the Soviet Union in the decolonization of African countries cannot be overestimated. In the middle of the last century, the inhabitants of the continent won the right to try to live the way they want in fighting, Daria Da-Conceicao specified.

And Moscow helped them in this. Many qualified personnel were trained in the USSR, the Soviet people built schools and hospitals for Africans.

The first part of the documentary was filmed with the participation of residents of African countries who were educated in the USSR. Filming took place in Mozambique and South Africa.

Currently, work is underway on the second part of the project called "Black to USSR: Russians in Africa".
