The National Technological Olympiad attracted more than 135,000 students and schoolchildren from 25 countries, RIA Novosti reports. Young people from all Russian regions were joined by representatives of the CIS, BRICS, SCO and other states. The competition is held for the 8th time.

According to Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, the Olympiad has become one of the key events of the Decade of Science and Technology. Chernyshenko is sure that the tournament will encourage young people to develop an interest in research and the creation of new technologies.

It is the youth that will become the main driving force in ensuring economic security and achieving the technological sovereignty of the country in the future, Chernyshenko stressed.

Every year the number of participants in the Olympiad is growing, over the past years their number has exceeded 500,000 people, Sergey Kiriyenko, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation explained. According to him, the Olympiad opens up new opportunities for young people. They can not only try their hand at working with the most modern technologies, but also get a chance to enter the best technical universities in Russia without exams.
