The work of Sergei Prokofiev will become the main theme of the musical marathon in Budapest next year, 2023, TASS reports. The traditional event, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, will be timed to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the death of the great composer.

The marathon will take place on February, 4. Prokofiev's music will be performed throughout the festival program.

The non-profit company Mupa Budapest, which is the organizer of the marathon, recalled that the composer created many wonderful symphonies, concertos, chamber compositions and piano pieces. The organizers promised to acquaint the audience with his diverse work.

Hungarian symphony orchestras, chamber groups and musicians will join the festival. They will perform the Fifth Symphony, the Second Violin Concerto, excerpts from the Romeo and Juliet and Cinderella ballets, and much more. Admission to some concerts will be free.

Sergei Eisenstein's "Alexander Nevsky" and "Ivan the Terrible" will be screened during the festival. The music for these movies was written by Sergei Prokofiev.
