Martial law has been introduced by Russian President Vladimir Putin in four new regions, TASS reports. He signed the corresponding decree on Wednesday, October, 19. It comes into force on the next day.

The martial law is introduced in the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. According to the head of state, the decree was immediately submitted to the upper house of the Russian parliament.

The decree was issued taking into account the fact that armed force is used against the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation, in accordance with the Constitution and the Federal Constitutional Law "On Martial Law".

The law contains a list of measures that allow such a regime to be applied. Among them are the organization of production and services for state needs, the evacuation of economic, social and cultural facilities, as well as the temporary resettlement of residents to safe areas. A special regime of entry and exit to the territory and restriction of freedom of movement on it, as well as other measures are expected.

In the regions of the Russian Federation bordering Ukraine, a medium level of response is being introduced, in other regions of the Central and Southern federal districts - a level of high alert. In other regions, the level of basic readiness is being introduced.

The average level of response concerns the Crimea, Krasnodar Territory, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk, Rostov regions and Sevastopol.

The Federation Council approved a presidential decree on the introduction of martial law in the new regions.
