Theaters from the CIS countries and Israel participate in the Compatriots festival

Theaters from Russia, Israel, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan take part in the Compatriots International Festival-Forum of Russian Drama Theaters of the Near and Far Abroad Countries in Saransk, the capital city of the Republic of Mordovia, Russia. 

The festival opened on October 8 for the 16th time. According to the director of the theater and one of the founders of the Compatriots festival Andrey Yermolin, over the years, more than 80 theaters from many countries of the world, including the USA, France, Denmark, and the CIS countries, have participated.

The festival of the current year opened with a play by the Belarusian Army Drama Theater from Minsk “The Trouble of a Tender Heart”, performances based on the works of Nikolai Gogol, Mikhail Bulgakov, Maxim Gorky, William Shakespeare and other authors will also be shown. The festival to be concluded on October, 13.

The purpose of the festival is to support Russian theaters abroad. "Russian theaters abroad do not always have a nice life."Andrey Yermolin underlined.
