The Krakow authorities have canceled concerts of the founder of the British rock band Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, as punishment for his statements about Russia that run counter to the position of the Polish authorities, TASS reports.

Lukasz Wantuch, a member of the Krakow's city council, announced that the concerts will be canceled. Previously, he advocated giving the musician the status of persona non grata because of his statements in support of Russia and reproached him for ''misunderstanding'' the situation in Ukraine. Wantuch stated that Krakow would not put up with the fact that Roger Waters allegedly uses the concert venue to promote controversial ideas.

The Associated Press agency reported that the concerts were canceled due to the musician's position towards Russia. Earlier, he accused Washington of provoking the Ukrainian conflict.
