The agreement between Moscow and Riga on the avoidance of double taxation and on the prevention of tax evasion has been suspended. The corresponding decree was signed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.

The decision is due to the fact that Latvia is violating its obligations under the agreement.

Double taxation avoidance agreements between countries are concluded in order to prevent unlimited taxation of the same income in several states. As a rule, they are concluded to promote the development of economic cooperation.
