Russia to invest $16,5 million in development of quantum technologies

Russia intends to allocate $16,5 million by 2025 to projects related to the development of quantum technologies. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko called this area one of the Russian scientific priorities, the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper reports.

According to Chernyshenko, quantum computing is one of the priority areas of scientific development, which will help Russia gain technological sovereignty. Russian scientists implement unique projects in this area, like the creation of a prototype of a 4-qubit ion quantum processor.

By 2025, Russia plans to create a 100-qubit processor. More than 300 scientists are involved in solving this problem, 18 scientific groups are working on this task. 

The head of the Quantum Technologies scientific council of the Russian Academy of Sciences, academician Gennady Krasnikov noted that achievements in the field of quarters will allow Russia to lead in a number of industries, raising medicine, logistics and other areas to a new level.
