Russian schoolchildren have won three gold and three silver medals at the International Mathematical Olympiad, the website of the Ministry of Education reports.

The tournament took place in Oslo and has been held for more than 60 years. This year the number of participants approached 600 people. Representatives of hundreds of countries fought for victory. Students of Russian participated in the competition remotely.

The winners of the Olympiad were Galiya Sharafetdinova from Kazan, Ivan Bakharev and Maxim Turevsky from St. Petersburg. The silver medals went to Taisiya Korotchenko and Roman Kuznetsov from St. Petersburg, as well as Muscovite Denis Mustafin.

In addition, Galiya Sharafetdinova took first place in the overall ranking of the Olympiad.

The head of the Ministry of Education Sergey Kravtsov highly appreciated the work of young Russians. According to him, even the unprecedented, ongoing pressure on Russian teams could not interfere with their success. The minister is sure that the victories of Russian schoolchildren are becoming another evidence of the high quality of Russian education and the level of development of the natural science in educational institutions.
