The title of the world's best tennis player will go to a Russian athlete in a few days, TASS reports. From June 13, Daniil Medvedev will take first place in the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP.)

This became possible after the loss of Alexander Zverev, representing Germany, to the Spaniard Rafael Nadal in the semifinals of the French Open Champion Roland Garros.

Now the rating is headed by Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic. In ten days, he will run out of the points he received as the winner of the Roland Garros tournament last year. This time, Djokovic was eliminated from the competition in the quarterfinal match, losing to Nadal. In turn, Zverev during the meeting with Nadal refused to continue the ьфеср due to injury. He could take the place of the leader in the ATP ranking only if he won the Roland Garros.

The 26-year-old Russian will become the world's best for the second time. He led the ranking from February 28 to March 21, 2022. Daniil Medvedev has 13 victories within the ATP tournaments.

Of the Russian tennis players, Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Marat Safin topped the ranking earlier.
