Finland may face a shortage of paper in the coming weeks due to the anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the Western countries. Every 5th copy of a Finnish newspaper was printed on paper coming from Russian manufacturers, Sputnik reports.

After the start of Russia's special operation in Ukraine, Finland decided not to let Russian paper enter its market and did it at a very unfortunate moment when workers from the Paperiliitto paper industry are on strike, dissatisfied with their current agreement.

The consequences of the shutdown of the Finnish paper industry could have been neutralized by increasing imports from Russia, but this possibility has been destroyed by sanctions. Experts believe that if the strike cannot be stopped soon, the print media industry will face great problems.

Some newspapers have already changed the publication format due to the shortage of paper. The prices have already more than doubled.
