1,5 million people are expected to join the Memory Garden campaign this year, according to the website of the Ministry of Education. As part of the project, volunteers annually plant tens of millions of trees in memory of those who died in the Great Patriotic War.

The department noted that today one of the main tasks is the preservation of historical memory. The campaign starts on the territory of the Crimean peninsula, in Sevastopol. Trees are also being planted in the Krasnodar Territory and the North Caucasus.

Everyone is welcome to join the campaign and plant trees in their gardens in memory of the victims of the war. For the first time, the event was held two years ago, and now memorial gardens are already blooming in all Russian regions and abroad.

Last year, more than 31 million trees were planted by participants in the Garden of Memory campaign. Its results were summed up on the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow. The number of participants reached two million people, of which almost half were schoolchildren.
