Moscow does not yet plan to send the army to the territory of the Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, RIA Novosti reports. He urged not to speculate on this topic and assured that the republics would receive military assistance in case of a threat.

The agreements with the LPR and the DPR provide that the Russian Federation and the republics will closely cooperate in protecting each other's sovereignty and security.

Russia and the republics will jointly take all available measures to eliminate the threat to peace and counter acts of aggression against them. In addition, the treaties give the parties the right to use the military infrastructure and military bases on their territory. Mutual assistance agreements between Russia and the DPR and LPR will be valid for ten years, and then automatically renewed for the next five years.

The agreements signed by Russia, the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics on cooperation and mutual assistance have been ratified by the State Duma and the Federation Council.
