Russian performers win main award of circus festival in Spain

Russian performers won the main prize of the Golden Elephant festival in Spain, which is considered one of the most respected circus competitions in the world. The performance of the Russian State Circus Dmitry Efremkin and Elena Mizenina won the highest award and the audience award, the website of the Ministry of Culture of Russia reports.

The winners' performance was called "Anna", it is based on Leo Tolstoy's novel "Anna Karenina." 

The aerial gymnasts of the Moscow Circus Egor Nikulina and Lucia Sukhorukov also won the festival.

The silver medal went to Russian acrobats and aerialists from the Russian State Circus and the Great Moscow Circus. The "Carnival of Venice" performance was awarded a special prize from the Cirque du Soleil.
