Literary seminars, film screenings, broadcasts of works by Russian composers, a conference for students and teachers, and other events took place in Xalapa (Mexico) as part of the first Russian Culture and Politics Week, the Rossotrudnichestvo website reports.

The series of events was organized by the Russian House in Mexico City, the Russian Embassy in Mexico and the Higher School of Veracruz. The program of the Russian week included seminars on Russian literature, screenings of films made by legendary Russian and Soviet directors.

Radio broadcasts of works by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Sergei Prokofiev, performed by Mexican musicians, allowed the residents of the city to get acquainted with the world-famous Russian classics.

Students, teachers and other residents of the city and the region attended the conference. They discussed the issues of modern politics and the economy of Russia, as well as possible areas of cooperation between countries.

Representatives of the Russian embassy and the Russian House told locals about Russian education and government quotas. As part of the Week, the Russian House sent books and textbooks on the Russian language to the library of the Higher School of Veracruz.
