Foreign students of the Ilya Repin St. Petersburg Academy of Arts have come to Karelia for plein-airs. Earlier, foreign students visited a number of southern and northern regions of Russia, Stolitsa on Onego.ru reports.

The trips of young foreign artists are carried out as part of the Real Russia project, which allows students to get acquainted with the beauties of nature and the history of Russian regions. Previously, students worked in Khakassia, Buryatia, the Krasnodar Territory, the Murmansk Region and other regions.

During the Karelian trip, students from Great Britain, Brazil, China, India, Syria, France, Ukraine and many other countries visited Sortavala, Ruskeala and other interesting and picturesque places in the region.

Almost 30 students and five teachers took part in the art expedition. As part of the visit, the guests captured the medieval costumes of Karelia, restored based on the results of archaeological excavations, and showed sketches to local residents as part of an express exhibition.
