Russians win silver medals of European Futsal Championship

The Russian futsal team took 2nd place at the European Championship, which was held in the Netherlands. The Russians lost to the Portuguese team in the final, TASS reports.

The Russians were leading in the 1st half of the game but lost with the score of 2:4 in the 2nd. On the way to the final match, the Russians beat the Slovaks, Croats and Poles, in the quarterfinals they were stronger than the Georgian team, and in the semifinals they defeated the Ukrainians, who lost to the Spaniards in the game for bronze medals.

In case of victory, the Russians could have won the gold medals of the European Championship for the first time in 23 years. The team has six silver and three bronze medals. The head of the Russian Football Union Alexander Dyukov praised the performance of the team, saying that Russia can be proud of it.
