217 athletes are going to represent Russia at the Winter Olympics in Beijing, which will open on February 4. The entire Russian delegation includes 509 people. 109 sets of medals will be awarded at the Games, TASS reports.

The first plane with Russian Olympians on board is to leave for Beijing on January 22. More than 20 special flights of Aeroflot, which has concluded an agreement with the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), are planned to transport the entire team.

To reduce epidemic risks, members of the Russian delegation will check in for flights in a special area of Sheremetyevo Airport.

Chinese viewers will be able to see Russian Olympians not only in sports arenas, but also on large movie screens. On the eve of the Games, the Russian film ''Ice-2'' was released, which tells about the family life of a sports couple - figure skater Nadia and hockey player Sasha.
