The Georgy Gamow Prize, awarded since 2015 by the Russian-American Science Association (RASA-America) went to Russian language specialist Mark Lipovetsky and biochemist Vadim Gladyshev. The awards were presented during the 12th RASA Annual Conference in Florida, TASS reports.
Mark Lipovetsky was awarded for his work on contemporary Russian literature, and postmodernism in particular. A graduate of the Ural State University, he currently is a professor of Slavic languages at Columbia University
Vadim Gladyshev, was awarded ''for research on selenoproteins and molecular mechanisms of aging'' and for activities aimed at the development of scientific collaborationы around the globe. he graduated the Lomonosov Moscow State University and works at Harvard University.
The George Gamow Prize is awarded annually to Russian-speaking scientists for outstanding contribution to science. The award is named after George Gamow, a great physicist and popularizer of science who worked in the USSR and the USA.
